Behavior Therapy and Psychology

Dr. Kathie Sweeten has 16 years of experience as a licensed psychologist and 7 years as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral.  Dr. Sweeten treats children, adolescents and adults for a variety of issues; including anxiety, depression, behavior disorders, weight loss, Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.

She has 30 years of experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum.  Most of this time has been spent in early intervention working with young children on the spectrum.  However, as the patients have grown into adults, Dr. Sweeten has continued to work with them. She enjoys working with teens and adults on the spectrum who often face issues of anxiety and depression.  She is trained in Discrete Trial Training, Picture Exchange Communication System, Social Stories and TEACCH.

The former owner and co-Director of the Center for Autism Research, Evaluation and Service, Inc. (CARES, Inc.), she has now opened a private practice to focus on outpatient therapy with a variety of individuals. She has years of experience doing in home applied behavior analysis, parent training, has consulted with several school districts on behavior management issues and has done trainings for school personnel, the community and her own team. She is trained in techniques using Applied Behavior Analysis, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Currently, Dr. Sweeten is accepting new patients and is on several insurance panels,  including Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna and Tricare.  Blue Shield is pending approval.  She also accepts cash only patients.
